VACATION

Last week we took a mini-vacation. We were long overdue. Jack was adamant about going to the beach, but Stuart didn't want to drive and neither of us wanted to spend the money to fly. So, I came up with a cheaper solution. We stayed a couple of nights at the Hyatt at Gainey Ranch. It was wonderful. They had great summer rates. They also have a huge shallow, sand bottom pool that let Jack feel like he was at the beach. We had an awesome time.

We had so much fun, that most of the time, I didn't even think to take out my camera...now that is really saying something. Here are a few of the moments I did capture.

Jack and Stuart looking pretty happy after a day at the pool.

Jack got to pet an alligator. He LOVED that.
One day, on the way back to our room, we found a tiny gecko. Jack was thrilled. He kept trying to feed him cookies. He was very sad when we let him go.
We had signed up Jack to attend "Camp Hyatt" for one morning so mom and dad could have some alone time, but due to a mix-up, it didn't happen. But, the staff at the hotel was awesome. They felt so bad about it that they delivered some great goodies to the room. A bottle of wine, a fruit plate and chocolate truffles for mom and dad and some giant chocolate chip cookies and milk for Jack. Talk about going above and beyond to make it up to you! We were impressed...and Jack loved the cookies.

He also loved the sound of bugs buzzing in the trees.

They also called us after our trip to apologize again. We will definitely be back.

Is there a giant Ironman in that last photo? I'm jealous...I am actually jealous about the alligator, though - Melanie would love that (Valorie would probably try to bite it though...we might have to tape her mouth shut first...

Did you check and double-check the strength of that tape before he sat down by that alligator????

It's nice to be able to take a vacation and not actually be that far from home. Sounds like a fun place.

It's so cute to see how gentile (did I spell that right?) Jack is with the gecko.

It looks like an awesome place.

Of course we brought Ironman with us Tim...he is a very important member of our family.

Jack packed his own bag for the trip, but didn't pack Ironman. Instead, he packed his blanket, half the doggies from his bed, his flashlight and about 10 pairs of underwear...but no other clothes.
