Our travel agent wisely advised us against renting a car for our stay. Everything was so close we didn't need it. (We did rent for 1 day only, but more on that in another post.) Although we enjoy tours and activities, Stuart and I both do not like to be over scheduled on a vacation as we feel it defeats the purpose. So, we spent the majority of our time in Waikiki...enjoying the beach and walking around the downtown area. There weather was perfect. Highs in the high 70s and low 80s. A night it didn't go below 66. Living in dry Arizona, I really appreciate a little humidity and just loved the conditions.
We stopped to look at everything.
Getting Jack to look at the camera was almost impossible.
We were cutting into his exploration time, so we gave up.
There were a fair number of people, but everyone was nice and it didn't feel too crowded.
The trees were so cool. Jack really liked them.
He asked us to take these pictures.
There was lots of shopping. Our favorite, of course, was the international market because they had the best negotiating.
Jack loved their koi pond.
And, again, didn't want to stop playing with the fish to get a picture.
Even the nights were beautiful. They had torch lighting ceremonies with performances on the beach. They even had many, many street performers outside of the stores. (It reminded me a lot of San Francisco.)
Of course, the beach was the best part. We were there every day.
Jack made new friends every day. He would meet a new kid in the morning and then beg the rest of the day to go back to the beach because he missed his "friends." He certainly is an outgoing little boy.
All the walking, swimming, and sun wore a boy out. Each day he either took a 2 hour nap, or fell asleep around 6pm.

It looks like so much fun!
I want to go to Hawaii!!!
Kim, we have to talk. Go to Cancun instead! Much cheaper and the beaches are better.
Good to know!
