Iron Man
Jack has a new best friend. It's Iron Man. It never ceases to amaze me that this kid seems to know all the super heroes without seeing the movies or the cartoons. He loves his Iron Man toy. Every time he saw it at the store, he begged for it. After several weeks of this, I gave in and bought it.
Jack was thrilled. For the last couple of months, the Iron Man has been his favorite toy. Jack plays with it constantly. He shows it around the house. He puts it in his high chair and feeds it. He likes to take it's picture with the camera. He sleeps with it every night. Jack even insists on taking it with us in the car, but wants me to buckle it in the seat next to him.
We recently recorded the movie on TV and let Jack watch it. Once we fast forward past the parts that are too violent (or too boring) for Jack, we found he can watch the whole movie in about 30 minutes...not bad. That seems to have only increased his obsession. Last week I bought him an Iron Man action figure. WOW! That was a hit. Now he has his little iron man and his big iron man. He loves it. I love that when he says "Iron Man" it sounds like he is saying "fire man."

More Reasons to Love Jack
Some of my favorite things about Jackson:
- When he gives me a kiss, he says, "mmmmuch" each time.
- He always asks for hugs. Often, when shopping, he wants me to hug him while pushing him around in the cart, while I am hunched over him. He thinks it is so funny and gets mad if I try to let go of him.
- He wakes up so happy each morning. He giggles and jumps up and down when he sees me.
- When I play with him, he always asks, "sit the mommy?" This means he wants to sit on my lap while he plays. He then promptly, wraps my arms around him before resuming his playing.
- He gets so concerned when I am upset, asking, "You okay? Mommy, you okay?" He pats my head and gets his face right up next to mine, telling me, "You okay Mommy."
- He runs and screams with pure joy when playing outside.
- He is so happy to spend time with his dad. Yesterday, when Stuart got home from work, Jack followed him into the bedroom while he was changing. I was trying to talk to Stuart, when Jack turned around and told me, "Don't talk Daddy!" I guess he wanted his undivided attention.
There are so many little things every day that make me smile. I am so grateful he is my son.

Fun in the Pool
Jack definitely takes after his dad. He loves the pool! (Unlike last year, he is now pretty fearless.) He seems to be teaching himself how to swim and doesn't need or want any help from us. He gets in his tube and kicks his way around the pool. He also can pull himself out from the deep end.
The bonus is that the sun and water make him tired and, as a result, he sleeps in later each morning. He went swimming the last 5 days in a row and each time he slept in an extra 30-90 minutes in the following morning. YEA!

Tunnels
One of Jack's favorite things is tunnels. He loves making tunnels for his cars, his tractors, or for himself. He likes going to Costco because we get to drive through a tunnel to get there. He especially loves the drive to the airport because we go through the long tunnel on that route. It takes so little to make this boy happy. Here are some of his favorite tunnels.
Boxes are such a cheap source of entertainment!
Yes, I found him here one morning. He said he was in his tunnel.

Of course he is naked for this one. Does that really surprise anyone?
He still isn't tired of this one.

Determined
I know I haven't posted in awhile. We have been busy trying to finish up lots of projects. In the last couple of weeks, we have painted the kitchen, sewn curtains for the master bedroom, worked on the murals in Jack's bedroom, finished the wall hangings for Jack's playroom, and planted a TON of stuff in the backyard. Whew! And we still have so much more to do. Jack is growing so much that I don't want to get too far behind on my reports, so I will try to do better.
This picture is from a couple of weeks ago. I woke up one morning and we had no coffee in the house. (That lousy housekeeper!) I decided to sneak out to pick some up before Stuart left for work. I did not say good-bye to Jack and he was not happy about it. He told his dad he had to go get me. Stuart told him he couldn't because, among other things, he "wasn't even dressed." So, Jack quickly got himself dressed so he could come after me. He can do most anything he sets his mind to do. I love that about him.
