Easter

Jack was thrilled to get a Boba Fett air launcher in his Easter basket.  He didn't care one bit about the candy and didn't even ask for any of the candy until days later.  He did play with this rocket for 2 days straight.  And, he slept with it.  Always a sign he loves a toy.

Check out the action shot I captured!  Very cool.

We also decorated eggs, of course.  I was so proud of Jack.  He did 90% of the work himself this year.  He is growing up so fast!
He loved the egg holder.
I have no idea what he was doing here, but the picture cracks me up!
It takes serious concentration to get it right.
I love that we have half camouflage and half glitter eggs.  (Jack's choice.)  It shows perfectly how Jack straddles the line between little boy and big boy!
Before dying the eggs, Jack and I had a discussion as to what the eggs symbolize for Easter.  I really want him to understand the meaning behind some of the fun traditions that we do.  He listened intently as I explained in very simplistic terms.  I didn't expect him to totally understand at this age.  When we dyed the last egg, however, Jack turned to me and said, "Now I can live forever because I dyed the eggs, right?"  I tried to clarify, but he was adamant that he could live forever now that he had dyed Easter eggs.  Uh, well, maybe I need to work on my explanation...

Car Rides

I love picking up Jack from preschool.  We turn off the radio and have the BEST conversations on the ride home.  It's non-stop chatter.  He tells me all about his day.  He tells me who misbehaved in his class and continually asks why various kids are bad.  (He has a hard time understanding why kids are sometimes bad.)  It's also a great learning time.  We practice left and right as I ask him which direction we are going.  We practice our address.  At first he resisted practicing our address, until I started telling him I was lost and needed him to tell me our address so I could find the way home.  (Works every time.)

Apparently, dad has a different routine when he picks Jack up from school.  It's all about music.

Although I would have picked a different song, I crack up every time he sings along to this one!

New Inventions

I love the way Jack's mind works.

Jack taped my cell phone to the wall because he said it would be easier for me when I talked.

Jack decided to link our home phone to his watch for convenience.
He is constant entertainment.

Happy Birthday Stuart!

March 21st was Stuart's Birthday so we had lots to celebrate in March.  Being the crappy wife that I am, we recycled our leftover anniversary cake into Stuart's birthday cake.  (NOTE, we positioned this cake perfectly for the picture so that you can't really tell that the other half of it is gone.)  Yes, I suck at being a working mom.  6 months in I do not have a balance yet to manage work and home smoothly.  Luckily, my husband is awesome.

I love you Stuart!

Happy Anniversary

March 19th, we celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary.  We didn't do anything big as Karen was visiting for Spring Break at the time.  Instead, we made a fabulous dinner of crab legs and shrimp cargot at home, finishing off with a decadent chocolate mousse cake from AJs.  Yum!

Jack was losing patience with me in this video.  I asked him these questions multiple times, but Stuart kept making wise cracks in the background...so Jack made it clear that it was time to turn off the video so he could enjoy his cake.

My memories of our wedding day...

I remember my dad being advised to walk slowly and not drag me down the aisle.  (He has a tendency to walk very fast.)  But, when I saw Stuart at the end of the aisle, I couldn't help myself, I rushed and my dad had to slow me down.

I remember that I was just 16 weeks pregnant at the time, which is about the time your baby can hear sounds outside of the womb and I couldn't help but smile at the thought that Baby Jack would be able to hear us exchanging vows.

I remember that in the excitement of getting ready, I forgot to brush my teeth and realized this just as we were lining up to walk down the aisle.  So, I tried to rush back with my sister to brush my teeth, when we heard the music start up, so I turned around and hurried back to my place.  Luckily, my new husband gave me a breath mint after the ceremony!

And, I remember that as we rehearsed our vows with Reverend Sandoval, Stuart continually cracked jokes while I wept.  Then, when the day arrived, we totally surprised the Reverend as Stuart cried and I giggled through our vows.  Yes, that describes our relationship perfectly.  We balance each other out...

Jack and Karen

We had a nice, last minute surprise in March. Karen decided unexpectedly to come home for spring break.

Jack was so excited. He pulled all of these snacks out of the pantry and laid them out in the kitchen so we could have a party for his sister when she arrived.

He loved hanging out with her.

Karen trying on her prom dress she bought while she was here. (Yes, it's a little low cut, but Stuart said he was happy because at least it wasn't too short.)

Jack misses his big sisters so much when they aren't here!

BUGS

Jack loves his collection of bugs. I love that they were $1 each. I also love listening to Jack talk about his bugs.

He really worked hard to memorize everything he could about the bugs.

Can you imagine if he put this much effort into school work?

Buddies

Jack loves having his friends over to play. We love that we have some wonderful neighbors with kids the same age. Jack and Connor have so much fun together!
